«Esta mezcla pretende ser una gestalt de sonidos tomados del techno y el electro, con un fondo de bassy house, sobre todo porque me distraigo y no siempre puedo concentrarme, ¡lo que espero que os mantenga interesados! Si bien espero que la mezcla sea capaz de valerse por sí misma y contar su propia historia, te adelanto, a ti – el oyente – que en una nota más personal, dentro de esta mezcla existen pistas con las que he luchado para averiguar cómo mezclar, así como pistas con las que he gritado y llorado, algunas en pistas de baile y otras en privado. Mi objetivo es que el oyente deje espacio para el sonido, a veces enfrentado, de melodías exuberantes y arrebatos ásperos. «La música house siempre me ha parecido una manifestación de alegría profunda y resplandeciente y de ser notablemente humane -a veces en marcado contraste con la música rave, más turbia y sombría, envuelta en niebla y luces estroboscópicas- tal vez el equivalente en la pista de baile de una risa burbujeante donde otra música de baile susurra una oración. Es esta cualidad de calidez que es tan emocionante y reconfortante, y que permite a todes disfrutar y celebrar la vida juntes, lo que hace que la música house sea familiar y unificadora. Quería tomar esta energía y sensibilidad pero hacerla más onírica, vaporosa, atmosférica y decorada con un poco de sentimentalismo centelleante; de ahí pads más oníricos, sintetizadores emotivos, arpegios chispeantes, algunas inclinaciones y referencias adyacentes al trance. «This mix is an example of both the timelessness and wide range that exists within dance music. Not only do these tracks span from the late 80s to just a few months ago, the sound varies across the dance music spectrum. For me many of these sounds are what have drawn me to the dance floor over the years, helping to combat both my social anxiety and gender dysphoria; they are what have reminded me many times that being Queer and loving the things you love puts you in community with so many other like minded radical folks. My hope for whoever listens is that you can resonate with my love for these tracks, the artists that created them!»
