«I have rummaged through the records/labels that have influenced me the most, trying to create a journey that was not at all academic and to be enjoyed with eyes closed and hi-hats wide-open. House changed my life LITERALLY. In my opinion the dance floor is the greatest social catalyst that has ever existed: it makes us all equal. At least that’s how we experienced it in my generation; a bunch of people united by dancing, freeing themselves from their complexes and embracing difference without rules or tutelage. It may sound exaggerated with distance, but I’ve seen what happened on a dancefloor when House Nation played and that was for real. In the session I have tried to gather records from all the places that made the last half of the 90’s an explosion that synthesized the groove of black music with the European electronic tradition and Jamaican dub. From the bubbling and hypnotic house of the Glasgow scene represented by DJ Q, to the London elegance of Nigel Hayes, the West Coast psychedelia of Rasoul, the Italian hooliganism, the French touch, the depth of Chicago, the avant-garde of Detroit, the German minimalism, the cheekiness of Dutch productions… The final track is my favorite from Herbert’s Bodily Functions, probably the pinnacle of synthetic music of that era. They’re not all there, but they’re all there. »
«He rebuscado entre los discos/sellos que más me han influido, procurando crear un viaje que no fuese en absoluto académico y que se disfrute con los ojos cerrados y los charles bien abiertos. A mí el House me cambió la vida LITERAL. En mi opinión la pista de baile es el mayor catalizador social que ha existido: nos hace a todos iguales. Al menos así lo vivimos en mi generación; un montón de gente unida por el baile, liberándose de sus complejos y abrazando la diferencia sin normas ni tutelas. Puede que con la distancia suene exagerado, pero yo he visto lo que pasaba en una pista al sonar el House Nation y eso era de verdad. En la sesión he procurado reunir discos de todos los lugares que hicieron de la última mitad de los 90 una explosión que sintetizó el groove de la música negra con la tradición electrónica europea y el dub jamaicano. Desde el house burbujeante e hipnótico de la escena de Glasgow representada por DJ Q, a la elegancia londinense de Nigel Hayes, la psicodelia facturada en la costa oeste norteamericana de Rasoul, el gamberrismo italiano, el toque francés, la profundidad de Chicago, la vanguardia de Detroit, el minimalismo alemán, el descaro de las producciones holandesas… El tema final es mi favorito del Bodily Functions de Herbert, probablemente la cúspide de la música sintética de aquella época. No están todos lo que son, pero sí que son todos los que están.»
