«House music and the underground culture that surrounds it are a social, cultural and political technology of collective abandonment that was organically designed by queer, latino and black crowds to bypass societal oppression in temporary spaces of suspension from such norms. It is a pure expression of freedom and community that, when done well, is able to bypass rigid barriers of class, race, gender, sexuality and background. My mix focusses on a mixture of old and new tracks that signal moments were I was able to feel the power of this music and understand that it counteracted and forced me to question my own socialisation as a white, heterossexual male, opening up new avenues for my own expression as a whole being that didn’t have to adhere (and was invited to fight against) such normative conformities.»
«La música house y la cultura underground que la rodea son una tecnología social, cultural y política de abandono colectivo que fue diseñada orgánicamente por multitudes queer, latinas y negras para eludir la opresión social en espacios temporales de suspensión de dichas normas. Es una expresión pura de libertad y comunidad que, cuando se hace bien, es capaz de superar las rígidas barreras de clase, raza, género, sexualidad y origen. Mi mezcla se centra en una mezcla de temas antiguos y nuevos que señalan momentos en los que pude sentir el poder de esta música y comprender que contrarrestaba y me obligaba a cuestionar mi propia socialización como hombre blanco y heterosexual, abriendo nuevas vías para mi propia expresión como ser completo que no tenía por qué adherirse (y al que se invitaba a luchar contra) tales conformidades normativas.»
